A warm welcome to the Brisbane Unitarian Universalist fellowship. As Unitarian Universalists , or UU's, we have liberal and diverse spiritual values with a common concern for Social Justice and the Welfare of our Planet.
We believe in:
The worth and dignity of every person,
Justice, equality and kindness in human relations,
Accepting and encouraging each others' spiritual growth,
The freedom to search for what is true and right in life,
Using the democratic process as a fair way of making decisions,
Working to create a peaceful, free and just world, and
Respecting the connectedness of all life on our planet earth.
The most important tenet of Unitarian Universalists is that your spiritual growth is your own responsibility. We meet together regularly as a fellowship of reasoning and spiritual individuals to nurture our spirit.
Our Mission Statement includes these elements, and is as follows:
We seek to be a supportive and inclusive community which is united by these values:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person
Respect for all life and the natural environment
Celebration of life
Respect for the differences among people
Respect for children's needs and development
Equal opportunity for all
Democratic processes
Peace & reconciliation through non-violent resolution
Forgiveness
We affirm the diversity of religious beliefs and encourage ourselves and others to take responsibility for developing their own theologies and personal philosophies.
We promote an awareness of and involvement in social justice and ethical issues.
We accept a special responsibility for the development of children into responsible adults.
We encourage ourselves and others in spiritual development:
Through seeking knowledge and understanding
By employing imagination and creativity
By living according to these values.
